In order to improve our website hosting service performance, scalability, reliability and enable us to offer an ehanced range of services we are busy implementing new web hosting and datacentre infrastructure.
The project will be completed in a phased approach. The phases include planning, hardaware acquisition, configuration, testing and deployment. The planning phase is completed, hardware aquisition is in progress and elements of the configuration are under way. "The infrastructure is an exciting progression for us" comments Gsolutions managing director Dale Hurwitz.
The project once completed will provide us with a fully redundant infrastructure that will include HA (High Availablity). This will ensure that there is no single point of failure. Making use of virtualisation technology will enable us to run all our Linux and Windows web hosting servers. Once the web hosting deployment is complete we will be working on enabling dynamic creation and management of VPS's (Virtual private servers) for our customers as well as adding a new service that will be online NAS storage.
Gmail has acquired the services of Rudi Ahlers, a web hosting specialist to ensure that the solution implemented is of the highest quality. "The quality of infrastructure Gmail is implementing will allow for them to offer world class services and solutions" comments Rudi Ahlers.
The process of moving our customers onto the new infrastructure has been carefully planned and there is no expected downtime for any of our customers throughout the process.
